Favorite Love Songs

What I love about Valentine’s Day:
-Candy
-Seeing my parents happily going out on a date.
-Getting Valentines and feeling super-duper special even though everyone else got one almost exactly like it.

What I don’t like about Valentine’s Day:
-It’s not a holiday for single people.
-Me=single. But I’m okay with that. Except on Valentine’s Day.

(But the chocolate makes it all okay.)
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Not Giving Up

**WARNING:** This is the most clichéd (and repetitive [it was in the middle of the night when I made it. Give me a break]) poem you will ever read (or I will ever write—hopefully). I wrote it a few nights ago after falling asleep, waking up, and realizing that somehow, someday, all those words I’ve written and kept hidden in Microsoft Word documents will have a purpose.

Like the flowers,
I will bloom.
Like the sun,
I will burn.
Like the stars,
I will shine.
Like the trees,
I will grow.
Like the leaves,
I will dance.
Like the wind,
I will push
Those who need
the nudge
Toward the light
of my Savior.
Like a baby bird,
I will fly.
And then fall.
But I will land
On a branch,
And keep trying.
I’m not giving up.

The *Best* Homemade Mac & Cheese

ImageImageImageImage

Ingredients:
8 oz. elbow macaroni
3 T butter or margarine
3 T flour
2 cups milk
Salt and pepper (you choose the amount. I just shook until it looked good.)
1/2 an onion
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 large jar of Cheese Whiz

Cook macaroni in boiling water until tender, drain and rinse. Make white sauce of butter, flour, and milk. Add seasoning, onion and cheese. Pour over macaroni in lightly greased baking dish (my mom likes to leave some of the sauce out and then pour it over the macaroni once it’s done cooking). Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

The Giver

On Monday, I finished The Giver. I liked it.
My mom has been trying to get me to read that book for years. Finally, I consented (see, I was planning on starting The Lord of the Rings, but my sister is reading it so she gave me The Giver).
It reminded me of all the things I take for granted. I’ve never thought of a life without color, smells, or differences. But most of all, I can’t even imagine a life without love. I couldn’t live without it. People mean too much to me (even though, at times, it doesn’t seem like I do).
Plus, without love, we couldn’t have God. Or, at least, the same God as we have now, because He’s loving. And the thought of no loving God is creepy. And scary. And really, really, depressing.
So there’s a thought for you all today, whether it makes sense or not (even I haven’t finished deciding what I think of the book, but this is what I’ve got so far).

Swing.

Image

When I swing, I don’t have to think. My legs automatically move back and forth by themselves, letting my brain relax. I can just be myself, be loose, because swinging doesn’t really take a lot of personality. Anyone can do it. If you love it, you do it. That’s all there is to it. If you don’t like it, fine. Go play on the slides. I like it because my mind can just wander to whatever odd place my imagination has thought up of. Maybe it’s a new story I want to write, or traveling the world. I’ve come up with some pretty awesome ideas while swinging. Maybe, sometime, you’ll read about one.

I Love Jesus Because…

(This post is inspired from my last Sunday School lesson, when my teacher said that you don’t have to feel guilty about praising God because He did something awesome for you. Praising Him is a good thing.)

I love Jesus because He gave me an amazing family who love me for who I am.
I love Jesus because He gave me two Christian parents.
I love Jesus because He has given me a house to call home, food to eat, and a warm bed to sleep in.
I love Jesus because He has given me amazing friends.
I love Jesus because He has given me the ability to hear, see, touch, smell, taste, read, write, walk.
I love Jesus because He will never leave my side.
I love Jesus because He will always forgive me when I ask. No matter what I do.
I love Jesus because He loved me first.
I love Jesus because He has given my sister the ability to dance beautifully, with all her heart, for Him.
I love Jesus because He will always protects me.
I love Jesus because He died for me, my family, my friends—everyone.
I love Jesus because He invented music.
I love Jesus because He has given me another day to praise Him with.
I love Jesus because He always knows what’s going on, even when I don’t.
I love Jesus because He had someone come up with the awesome idea of apple pie.
